Molasses rums vs. cane juice rums: a quick guide to their unique characteristics

Cane Juice Rums

Cane juice rums, on the other hand, are made from fresh sugarcane juice, which is extracted by crushing the sugarcane stalks and collecting the resulting liquid. This juice is then fermented and distilled to create rum.

Cane juice rums tend to be lighter and more delicate in flavor than molasses rums. They often have a grassy or vegetal taste, with notes of citrus, floral, or herbal flavors. Cane juice rums are typically aged for a shorter period than molasses rums, as they tend to mature more quickly.

The main difference between molasses rums and cane juice rums lies in their flavor profiles. Molasses rums are typically richer and more complex, with deeper and more robust flavors, while cane juice rums are lighter and more delicate, with fresher and more vibrant tastes.
